I have recently been working on a research paper about the implications of case law development regarding the "transmit clause" of the Copyright Act for Amazon's unlicensed Cloud Player music service. The writing, as you may have guessed from that description, is dry to the point of choking, unless you're a law student or a copyright wonk. However, there are moments when writing even the driest prose elicits in me the same feeling I get when I'm writing music on a guitar or lyrics on the back of a junk mail envelope. This realization leads me to two possible conclusions:
- Copyright law is the right field for me, and I have chosen the right specialty.
- I am so addicted to writing that, like an alcoholic steeling his mind and throat against a swig from the mouthwash bottle, I'll find a buzz almost anywhere, whether it's really there or not.
I'm actually inclined to accept both as completely accurate.
